Operations Engineer - Zoove, Palo Alto, CA Zoove is a VC backed company with offices in Palo Alto, California. Zoove delivers the only mobile direct response marketing service that enables brands and advertisers to bridge off and online advertising via the mobile phone with a simple, consumer driven call to action. With StarStar service from Zoove, consumers can respond to an advertisement or promotion of a brand, product or service directly on their mobile phone. StarStar service realizes the full promise of mobile marketing. StarStar enables advertisers to reach large numbers of consumers by tying off-line advertising with on-line, via the mobile device. The Zoove response mechanism is a fully consumer-driven opt-in pull of additional advertising or promotional content, as prompted by a brands advertisement. That is, a person sees or hears an advertisement, wants additional information, simply dials ** followed by a brand name and immediately receives interactive content which can include SMS, MMS, WAP, or Voice Services.
The Operations Engineer will be responsible for monitoring and remediating systems and network performance for the Zoove production platform. This includes developing and maintaining monitoring systems, running reports, tracking escalations, and directing the activities of NOC technicians, carriers and vendors to prevent or resolve service-related issues in conjunction with Zoove Software and Systems Engineers.
This is a full-time position in Zooves Palo Alto, CA headquarters. Compensation includes salary, full health benefits and stock options.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitoring and managing network activity, system resources and backup systems Maintaining system account access in accordance with Zoove security policies Coordinating QA and production OS updates and patches to ensure 1:1 system match Performing or assisting in system backup and recovery procedures Performing or assisting in deployment of Zoove software revisions to production Maintaining system documentation and logs Communicating with Zoove NOC to ensure ticket resolution Providing Level 2 escalation support to diagnose and correct production platform issues Gathering and formatting system performance metrics for presentation to carriers and partners
Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
Thorough understanding of and experience in the configuration, operation and maintenance of production RHEL systems Strong knowledge of TCP/IP networking and network systems including routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, load-balancers, NAS Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills Experience with the setup, configuration and use of system and network monitoring tools including Nagios, Cacti, MRTG, SNMP, etc. Scripting skills are a plus Understanding of DS1/DS3 transport and SS7 signaling is a plus Understanding of relational database concepts. Oracle experience is a plus Ability to follow and enforce strict change management processes Ability to communicate professionally and courteously with customers and carriers as part of the escalation process Technical degree or equivalent experience/certifications
